Plant City Christmas Parade Friday December 1

Update Nov 28:  Pack 734 will be walking with the Plant City Railroad Museum float, in position P near the front of the parade, not with other scout units.  Parents should either walk with the Scout, or have another designated person to walk with him. Wagons are acceptable, but no skates or other wheeled items.  Wear either your Scout uniform, or the pack 734 T-shirt, and a festive hat or other decoration.  We can hand out candy to parade spectators, but no throwing.

Pack 734 will participate in the Plant City Christmas Parade on Friday evening, December 1 along with other Scouts in the Plant City area. The parade starts at 7PM, and we should be in place by 6:30, and we will be walking with other Plant City area Scouts from Pack 744, Pack 5, and Boy Scout Troops. Boys should wear their blue or khaki uniforms, or pack T-shirt, and we would like them to wear a Santa hat. The parade start area will be congested, so try to carpool when dropping off the boys. Parents can walk with the boys. If you are not walking, try to have some other parent chosen to watch your boy until you reclaim him at the parade end. (Trade cell phone numbers.)  They suggest you park near the parade end at the Courthouse at Reynolds and Michigan… but warn that the lots may fill up early. You can park anywhere in the area that you can find a legal parking spot – but please do not park in the Big Lots parking lot.

Notice that the route has been changed for 2022.

Line Up:  Parade participants will assemble along Evers street, south of Alsobrook down to Grant street.  This is one street west of the previous route. The parade route starts at Evers Street & Ball Street (this is where the Babcock Store is located) heads North on Evers to Reynolds Street turn right on Reynolds and end at Michigan (at Plant City Courthouse). This is about a 0.8 mile parade (a little less than a mile). There will be a free hot dog roast at the parade end for parade participants. (This is a good place to retrieve your Scout. A Leader will be there until all our scouts are recovered.) Uniforms please, and a Santa hat if you have one, or other festive decoration. Parents are welcome to walk with their Scout, or you can stay behind and find a good spot to watch, and several adult Scout leaders will walk with them.
