Nov 28 Update: We will be in position #22, along with other Cub Scout units from Plant City. We expect this to be near the Plant City Lock and Key store.
Pack 734 will participate in the Plant City Christmas Parade on Friday evening, December 2 along with other Scouts in the Plant City area. The parade starts at 7PM, and we should be in place by 6:30, and we will be walking with other Plant City area Scouts from Pack 744, Pack 5, and Boy Scout Troops. Boys should wear their blue or khaki uniforms, or pack T-shirt, and we would like them to wear a Santa hat. The parade start area will be congested, so try to carpool when dropping off the boys. Parents can walk with the boys. If you are not walking, try to have some other parent chosen to watch your boy until you reclaim him at the parade end. (Trade cell phone numbers.) Check back on this post for our parade position. It is typically in front of the Big Lots store. They suggest you park near the parade end at the Courthouse at Reynolds and Michigan… but warn that the lots may fill up early. You can park anywhere in the area that you can find a legal parking spot – but please do not park in the Big Lots parking lot.
Line Up: On Collins Street, from Grant St south to Prosser. (Collins will be closed at about 5pm.)
Route: parade will be headed north on Collins, beginning at Alsobrook, then turn right (east) onto Reynolds and end at Michigan (at Plant City Courthouse). This is about a 0.8 mile parade (a little less than a mile). There will be a free hot dog roast at the parade end for parade participants. (This is a good place to retrieve your Scout. A Leader will be there until all our scout are recovered.) Uniforms please, and a Santa hat if you have one, or other festive decoration. Parents are welcome to walk with their Scout, or you can stay behind and find a good spot to watch, and several adult Scout leaders will walk with them.
