Plant City Christmas Parade December 5

The Plant City Scouts will be the lead position in the parade, position #1. This will be near the IHOP resturant at the corner of Collins and Alsobrook. If you want to park near the end at the courthouse, starting about 5:30PM until 6:00, there will be a blue Ford Excursion driven by Alan Fawkes (813-380-6767) to transport boys to the parade start area. Pack 734 will participate in the Plant City Christmas Parade on Friday evening, December 5 along with other Scouts in the Plant City area. The parade starts at 7PM, and we should be in place by 6:30, and we will be walking with other Plant City area Scouts from Pack 744, Pack 5, and Boy Scout Troops. Boys should wear their blue or khaki uniforms, or pack T-shirt, and we would like them to wear a Santa hat. The parade start area will be congested, so try to carpool when dropping off the boys. Parents can walk with the boys. If you are not walking, try to have some other parent chosen to watch your boy until you reclaim him at the parade

end. (Trade cell phone numbers.) Check back on this post for our starting position. It is typically in front of the Big Lots store. They suggest you park near the parade end at the Courthouse at Reynolds and Michigan… but warn that the lots may fill up early. You can park anywhere in the area that you can find a legal parking spot – but do not park in the Big Lots parking lot. Line Up: On Collins Street, from Grant St south to Prosser. (Collins will be closed at about 5pm) Route: parade will be on Collins, beginning at Alsobrook, headed north on Collins turn right (east) onto Reynolds end at Reynolds and Michigan (at Plant City Courthouse) Starting at Alsobrook and Collins, and ending at Reynolds and Michigan is about a 0.8 mile parade (a little less than a mile). There will be a hot dog roast at the parade end for parade participants. Parking: try to park close to the end of the parade route, but know that this parking will fill fast. Do NOT park in the Big Lots parking near the beginning of the route. Please come if you can make it, whether you have signed up or not. Uniforms please, and a Santa hat if you have one. Parents are welcome to walk with their Scout, or you can stay behind and find a good spot to watch, and several adult Scout leaders will walk with them.
