UPDATE February14: Due to the forecast of rainy, cold weather on Saturday and Sunday, this campout has been cancelled. It may be rescheduled at a later date.
This is rescheduled for the February 17, 2024 weekend. This will be a joint campout with Troop 734, who will provide meals and activities.
Pack 734 and Troop 734 will hold a combined campout weekend on February 16 to18 at Withlacoochee River Park, east of Dade City. We will be in the Group site, which is entered from Auten Road, and not the main park entrance. Our campsite is fairly primitive, with no electricity or shelter. There is a nice restroom facility, but it is a long walk away.
Troop 734 will be providing the meals and activities for the Pack.
From Plant City, head north on hiway 301 or 39 to Chancey Road, and turn east. The road will curve to the north, and become Old Lakeland Road, or CR35. About 2 1/4 miles after going under the US98 underpass, turn right (east) on Enterprise Road. (At US98, this road is the new SR52 to the west, and Clinton Road to the east.) Take this road to the east until it dead-ends into Auten Road (a dirt road), then turn left (north) for 0.6 miles to a gate and entryway to the east. Go through the gate, and follow the road to the campground.
Map coordinates for the campground are: 28.33858, -82.12560.
Once at the site, it is only a short walk from the parking area to the campsites.
Some activities may include nature and wildlife walks, and fishing in the Withlacoochee River.
