In preparation for the canoeing event at Splash-O-Ree on April 5, we will have an opportunity to pass the BSA swim test on Sunday March 30 at the Plant City YMCA, starting at 2:00 PM. Per BSA policy, there must be an adult swimmer in the canoe with any non-swimmer. The swim test is a 100 yard swim, in a strong manner. Most Cub Scout age children are not able to do this. If you are not comfortable with this, there will be other adults and/or staff who can take the scout for a canoe ride.
Also , each Cub rank has an aquatics related adventure. Some of the requirements must be completed in the water. We can use the Plant City YMCA beginning about 2:00 PM on Monday April 18 to accomplish this. Scouts do not have to be there at 2:00 PM, but should arrive by 3:00. There will be a release form to sign as you enter.
If you cannot make it, there will be an opportunity to complete the requirements at the Splash-O-Ree event on April 5 weekend, and at Cedarkirk Campout May 17 weekend.
