It is always a good time to join Cub Scouts. And we would like to have you as a member of Pack 734.
Our unit meets at St. Clement Catholic Church, Plant City, on Tuesday evening at 6:30PM, when we hold our weekly den meetings. This post and web site have a lot of information and should answer many questions.
The Cub Scout program is for Kindergarten through 5th grade children (boys and girls). We meet Tuesday evenings when there is school, at 6:30PM. You are encouraged to visit one of these meetings, where you will be able to check out our program, and if you like it, sign up and pay for membership in Scouts. During the spring, 5th grade Cub Scouts can graduate to the Scouts BSA program for 11 year old through 18 youth. Troop 734 meets right after Cub Scouts, at 7:30PM.
All BSA adult leaders have had an extensive background check, and are trained in program presentation for the age group that they work with.
You can pre-view some of the Cub Scout program at web sites: www.scouting.org/programs/cub-scouts/ and www.beascout.org. Additional detailed information is available using the “Our Pack” and “Cub Scouting” links at the top of this page. This web site is a continually updated newsletter, so check back often. It is open for all public to view, so we do not have pictures or names of our youth on it.
Costs for the Cub Scout program:
The BSA membership is $85 for a year; council activity fee is $33.
So the total BSA registration fee is $118. The pack would like a $50 activity fee. This totals $168. If money is tight, see a leader and we will try to work with you. (Pack shirt, program book, uniform, etc are additional cost, but not necessary to get started.)
Also available is the Scout Life magazine for $15/year.
The Cub Scout program was being extensively updated effective June 1, 2024. A program book for grade levels 2, 3, 4, and 5 costs $24 for a spiral bound book, or $20 for a digital downloaded book. The book costs $13 for Kindergarten and 1st grade programs.
A Pack 734 T-shirt will cost $12.
A uniform will cost $60 or more. It is not necessary initially. We have some “experienced” uniforms available, or they can be obtained online.
Some district and council events will have a participation fee, which we will pass on if you participate.
Do not let cost of the program prevent participation in the program. See a leader if necessary.
Our Cub Scouts meet every Tuesday evening, 6:30 PM when there is school, and sometimes when there is no school, at St. Clement Catholic Church at 1104 N. Alexander Street. Meetings last 1 hour. For the Lion & Tiger (K & 1st grade) programs, a parent is required to attend with the scout.
We have several camp outs each year, some which are part of a district or council program, and some are for our unit only. We encourage camping, but you can come only for the day. At least one adult must attend with the scout, and all family members are welcome to attend.
During the summer months, there are not regular meetings, but we will have several Pack events each month. A Scout can earn a Summertime pin for coming to at least one event each month.
